Ode to Our Mother
We live with you Eat you Beat you And you always care Our ignorance hurts you But you are still strong You are old and wise But we fail to take your advice You have seen the ends of worlds And you see our demise You punish us With your sickness that doesn?t hurt you With your weather storms, of you When you urn for food You shake us, we listen You seem larger then life But you did start it Your seemingly infinite supplies of land of water of food But you are just one One of billions Can you speak to them? Do you also have family? You are our life line But you too are also powerless Mother earth? We all do love you still Even though we may not say it. Return to poetry list |
